There really is no bigger poker legend than Doyle Brunson. Brunson has been playing poker professionally for an incredible 50 years, and is currently the oldest pro player on the WSOP circuit. His status means that he and his accumulated wisdom are in great demand almost everywhere.
Brunson began playing poker in college, participating in hundreds of illegal games, some of which were under the supervision of well known members of organized crime operations. He moved up in the world to become one of only four players to win the Main Event at the World Series of Poker in back to back years, achieving the feat in 1976 and 1977. Because he is widely regarded as the greatest poker player of all time, it is not too surprising that his book, Super System, became an instant bestseller when it was first published in the 1980s, despite a hefty $70 price tag. The book is still popular today and paved the way for dozens more poker stars/authors, and has since had a second edition released.
